Santa Clarita California
Santa Clarita is the 4th largest city in the county of Los Angeles. It has a population of around 180,000 people, the area of the city is about 50 square miles. Santa Clarita is perhaps best known for the Magic Mountain Amusement Park and Hurricane Harbor Water Park in the community of Valencia.

The communities of Newhall, Saugus, Canyon Country and Valencia were all incorporated into the new city of Santa Clarita in 1987, the largest city to ever be incorporated in the state of California. Prior to incorporation the valley area had a rich history; notably it was the first place that gold was discovered in California, an oak tree is planted on the spot called the “Oak of the Golden Dream”. The California Oil Industry of the late 19th Century boomed here too with oil wells and the Newhall refinery which still exists today. The area became even more popular when the Southern Pacific Railroad constructed a stop in Saugus.

The city has a wealth of Hollywood history. Many movies have been filmed in the hills of Santa Clarita; you can see it on most any of the old Western movies starring John Wayne and Television shows from the 1950's. More recent and well known TV shows have also been produced here such as the original Knight Rider and Melrose Place and Housing many movie studios it is still used as a location for current Hollywood blockbuster movies.

Santa Clarita has over 15 parks including the seventeen acre Canyon County Park, that are great places to take the family. The Santa Clarita Sports Complex caters for many sporting activities, including skateboarders. The William S. Hart County Park and Museum is a 265 acre ranch and home of the former movie star cowboy William S. Hart that is a favorite local attraction.

The California Institute of the Arts, founded by Walt Disney provides many opportunities for artistic events the community can enjoy. The area also proudly hosts the oldest operating restaurant in Los Angeles County, the Saugus Café.

Santa Clarita has been designated as the 4th safest city in the United States which makes it a great place to live. The Mediterranean climate is pleasant throughout the year and the incorporation of the city means that public services are well maintained.
