San Bernardino California
San Bernardino is the county seat of San Bernardino County. It is the largest city in the Inland Empire of California with a population of over 200,000 people in an area of 200 kilometers squared.

The highest peak in Southern California is to be found in the San Bernardino Mountain range that is found to the North and East of the city. It is well known for the “Arrowhead” rock formation that inspired Native American legend as the downward arrow ‘points’ to abundant Hot and Cold water springs (the hot springs attain the highest temperature of any other hot springs globally – Hotels and Spas have long been located here and the Arrowhead Water company uses these waters in it’s bottles.

San Bernardino is home to the first MacDonald’s restaurant which opened in 1948 on historic Route 66. The site was previously used by the MacDonald brothers as a drive in barbeque restaurant, popular with local teenagers. After a few years of operation the brothers decided that quick hamburger meals targeted at families and travelers would be a more profitable enterprise and they converted the restaurant. A salesman for milkshake machines saw the potential of their business idea and persuaded them to franchise the operation.

Norton Air Force Base opened on the site of the Municipal Airport in 1942 after serving as a military training center and a fighter plane base during WWII. It expanded to accommodate Jet Planes and became a major logistics depot until it was closed in 1995. It now serves as San Bernardino International Airport.

The cities transportation connections with the freight train terminus, major trucking centers and conjunction of freeways has attracted many International companies to house large warehouses and logistics hubs.

San Bernardino has a pleasant climate with occasional light snowfall during winter. The resorts in the mountains attract many visitors as well as popular city based annual events. The city boasts a variety of cultural attractions including a well preserved Historic Downtown, Museums and The Arts are well represented.
